Character Development

GBTN

has identified 13 attributes that are essential for an individual to build strong moral character. Woven through each of these attributes is the concept of accountability and fortitude. The colloquial phrase “talk the talk and walk the walk” captures the essence of what Goals Beyond the Net expects each scholar athlete to demonstrate.

The 13 Attributes

are commitment, community responsibility, compassion, ethical decision-making, gratitude, honor, integrity, leadership, mentorship, personal responsibility, respect, service, and work ethic. Each month a different attribute is studied. The scholar athletes who best exemplify that attribute are recognized and honored at a JUFC monthly meeting.

In our Character Development Program,

the Ethics Director in the Jacmel United Football Club works with each team on a weekly basis to educate our scholar athletes through one hour scheduled classes. If the children do not attend the class, they are not allowed to participate in soccer practice that week.
